Why I wanted to participate in ViVID:

“I am teaching Elementary Malagasy at Duke University to scientists that need to learn the language in order to advance their work in Madagascar. Malagasy, is a less commonly taught language, and there are so little materials available for teaching. Moreover, I am trained in Science and not specifically in language teaching. My participation in this project would give me the instructional resources and support I tremendously need, to make my course a success. This training would also give me the crucial pedagogical knowledge that will enable me to bring my courses to the next level.”
